i remember the days when jws were proud of their religion, they walked tall and carried their big stick, their bibles, proudly.
now, it's embarrassing for a witness to admit their faith to others.
the average witness can't explain their beliefs, as they have changed so many times.

I agree, it is an embarrassment.
Br. Anthony Morris apparently lives to ridicule. Herd is very busy reading the mountains of material handed to him rather than the other way around. Sanderson's plastic smile is becoming hard to look at. And so on....
They are as real as Caleb and Sophia. The difference is Caleb and Sophia have a heart.

Sanderson is most definitely a Johnny Come LATEly. He's the newbie who is about to be tied to the same boat as the rest- the Titanic. Sorry about that buddy.
They should have heeded Pierce's doubts.

as of this june (i've already given my may contributions which are substantial) i am no longer giving money to support useless building projects that serve no good purpose.
i am no longer giving money at conventions or assemblies.
i am no longer giving money toward the circuit overseers upkeep.
As of this June (I've already given my May contributions which are substantial) I am no longer giving money to support useless building projects that serve no good purpose. I am no longer giving money at conventions or assemblies. I am no longer giving money toward the circuit overseers upkeep. I am no longer giving money period. Yes, that includes the Kingdom Hall upkeep.
I will, though, continue giving money to those in the congregation who are in need. To widows who are in financial difficulty, to brothers and sisters who have lost their job or who can only find part time work.
My money would be better spent at the humane society than in the Watchtower organization.

i worked a different shift.
i knew the people i worked with, but not as well as i could have.. anyway, religion comes up.
one guy mentions in front of another that i wrote a book about my religious experience.
DJS: Someone needs to stand up her when all she is doing is being polite and accurate. That someone, starting today, is me.
Good friends are hard to come by. I'm sure she appreciates your efforts to come to her defense.

the july 15, 2015 study watchtower article entitled "your deliverance is getting near", along with the jw broadcasting video entitled "gerrit losch: fortified by "the prophetic word," and chapter 21 of the god's kingdom rules!
book presented a large amount of new light or clarified understanding of the events of the great tribulation.. here i am presenting it in chronological order -- this is the governing body's updated chronological order of events for the time right before the great tribulation through armageddon:.
the final sealing of the anointed occurs just prior to the outbreak of the tribulation.
Appreciate the update FusionTheism.
I now understand Br. Splane's continual deer in the headlights look. He knows not where they are going nor where they have been.

in may's "we will never solicit for money, but now we're going to solicit you for the next hour" broadcast, we kept hearing about all the "facts" that the gb would like for us to know.. hmm...what facts did they leave out?.
-- $millions have been spent in out-of-court settlements of child abuse cases.
-- $untold amounts are being spent on legal defense of wt policies related to child abuse.
The May broadcast is evidence that their claim of Jehovah's support is false. If God supported the Warwick project they would not need to ask for money it would be there in abundance. Humility would cause them to see this but humility is not a strong part of their makeup.
Br. Morris' arrogance and his bad habit of denigrating individuals along with the humiliation thrown at Bethelites in the U.S. Zone meeting by another GB member is filthy. Christ's brothers do not behave as they do. By its fruit you will know the tree.

i realize many people on here are very angry at the watchtower society and/or governing body for various reasons, many of which are likely justified, at least to some extent.
i also can totally understand the cynicism and pessimism i see from certain ones regarding the leaders of the society.. i think one thing that's often forgotten or overlooked, however, is the fact that members of the governing body who've been "in the truth" for 30, 40, 50, 60 years, probably truly believe in this organization.
in my opinion, it's more likely that they believe what they teach instead of being liars who are intentionally deceiving everyone.
It does not matter if the Governing Body members truly believe...so does the Pope.
It does not matter if they are tweaking teachings here and there...the Catholic Church does the same.
It does not matter what they believe or do. Why?
Because they are HYPOCRITES who would rather back a lie than tell the truth.
Because they are MANIPULATORS who will twist scripture to get their way.
Because they are LIARS who claim to be what they are not.
Because they epitomize the SCRIBES AND PHARISEES of the first century whose hearts were corrupted with their own image of greatness.
Because they have made themselves into a god of brick and stone calling the works of men THE ORGANIZATION which must be obeyed as God himself.
Twisted men who look in the mirror and see God himself.

bro sanderson has a 7 minute video up on their streaming website called "be willing to open your hand".. in it he tells us not to be "tight fisted" or "stingy" and later "regardless of how much we have or how little we have, we'll find something within our power to be able to do".
we have the responsibility to imitate jehovah's generosity.. there's a bit about giving to one another when we see the need, which is nice, then he drops in how 20 years ago the canada branch committee asked the bethel family for donations to the disaster relief fund, and promptly raised over $10,000.
i think that's pretty good going for those under a vow of poverty.. "the generous person will prosper" he says, then illustrates this using a made up story.
Something the current Governing Body will NEVER say:
(Exodus 36:5-7) . . .: “The people are bringing much more than what the service needs for the work that Jehovah has commanded to be done.” 6 So Moses commanded that they should cause an announcement to pass through the camp, saying: “Men and women, do not produce any more stuff for the holy contribution.” With that the people were restrained from bringing it in. 7 And the stuff proved to be enough for all the work to be done, and more than enough."
Their house has been abandoned to them. They have ripped off the publishers and dishonored God. And so they are left to grovel for pennies because too many of us are fed up with them!
We are saying to the Governing Body, "No more stuff you workers of lawlessness!"
Frank
i'm ignorant to the social welfare programs outside the us, but listening to others i have to assume in europe it is more generous.
i've not had deep personal conversation with active witnesses for nearly 20 years.
last year i made contact with a family and some elders came to my house.
Steve2: I cannot recall ever reading or hearing that the organization has a "view" on whether a brother or sister should pioneer when on disability and/or unemployment allowances. Does anyone know if the organization has a stated position on the matter?
This is not a regular pioneer experience but it may fit.
The May broadcast had a video in which a husband and father gave up his job because his employer said he needed him to work on Sundays during the hours which happened to be the brother's Sunday meeting hours. According to the video though the brother could have attended a later Sunday meeting in another congregation he nonetheless chose to be fired than to not attend the Sunday meeting at his congregation.
According to the video the unemployed brother failed to find employment, received unemployment benefits, and auxiliary pioneered during his free time.
What got me was the fact that they highlighted the fact he chose to lose his job rather than to attend the Sunday meeting at another congregation. Extreme. How many brothers and sisters are at this moment struggling with the guilt of attending a meeting at another congregation for the sake of keeping their job?
Many.
